It is time to share my suggestions on how to recharge and regroup when the battle seems far too long and the world much too dark.
I'm starting a new series - "Self-care Sundays" -where I share the ways I feed my soul when my spirit is wilting. It is difficult to be in a constant state of rage and fear - we must take time to recover so that we can be at our best as we try to improve the world around us.
First up: YOU NEED SLEEP.
But I can't sleep. I can't sleep when the world is burning and my brain is whirring. I have a secret weapon which is much better than counting sheep.
I love this podcast. The host, "Scooter", tells very silly, droning stories that ultimately work like white noise. They are just distracting enough to cause you to stop the gerbil-wheel of worry but too boring and meandering to keep you awake. He has different styles of stories and it is worth listening to a few different episodes to see which type works for you.
I listen to it often and it is the only thing that helps me get to sleep when I just can't stop worrying about the world.
