Life's Greatest Joy is Kindness

Kindness calls for a softness that - to some - might seem like weakness.

Kindness is a gentle love and concern for others even when their differences makes us uncomfortable. It is lifting up those whose burdens are great. Helping to carry others and put ourselves aside requires strength. Strength to do the act of assistance. Strength to deny ourselves the immediate and ugly gratification of grabby selfishness and small, hard cruelty.

And then - much later - when you are at a low and needy point - you find that the kindness you shared returns from its journey touching others.

Don’t be small and mean. Move over a bit and make room for others. You’ll find unending joy there - even if it pinches for a moment.
