A Big Dill

30.00

A friend noticed a shape in one of my paintings that made her think of a pick with a bite taken out of it. I promised her that I would make more pickle-inspired art.

”A Big Dill” is a risograph* print in a limited edition of 50. It is printed using vibrant yellow and slate blue. The colors overlap to create olive green in areas. The overall paper size is 11" x 17" and the image itself is 8" x 11".

This print is sold unframed. Prints are packaged with a backing board in a plastic sleeve.

What is a risograph?
Risograph printing was developed as a quick and inexpensive method for reproducing color copies in the late 80s. The machine looks like a copier but it is not - it is a duplicator (remember the old mimeograph machines of old?). The Risograph is an environmentally friendly and cost effective printer which uses soy-based inks to produce unique outcomes (each print is a little different). The underlying technology of a Risograph is very similar to that of screen printing. The original image file is sent to the machine and it is burnt onto a master, the master is then wrapped around a print drum. This drum then rotates at high speed which pushes the ink through the screen and onto the paper as it is sent through the machine. Each color requires a separate ink drum.

My prints are produced by Authorized To Work in Brooklyn, NY.
