Bottomless Pot of Coffee Risograph Print

30.00

Coffee is the best beverage - hands down. It warms you and you feel like a lazy cat while you’re enjoying it - and then you feel a bit like a racehorse when it’s done. All in all it’s a very happy equation.

I made this warm abstraction with content and happy thoughts of that that warms us.

Bottomless Pot of Coffee is a risograph* print in a limited edition of 50. It is printed using vibrant yellow and teal ink. The colors overlap to create a tender lime green in areas. The overall image size is 11" x 17" and the image itself is 18.5’ x 10.5".

The print is sold unframed. Prints are packaged with a backing board in a plastic sleeve.

What is a risograph?
Risograph printing was developed as a quick and inexpensive method for reproducing color copies in the late 80s. The machine looks like a copier but it is not - it is a duplicator (remember the old mimeograph machines of old?). The Risograph is an environmentally friendly and cost effective printer which uses soy-based inks to produce unique outcomes (each print is a little different). The underlying technology of a Risograph is very similar to that of screen printing. The original image file is sent to the machine and it is burnt onto a master, the master is then wrapped around a print drum. This drum then rotates at high speed which pushes the ink through the screen and onto the paper as it is sent through the machine. Each color requires a separate ink drum.

My prints are produced by Authorized To Work in Brooklyn, NY.
