I’ve Never Seen My Work Like This Before
I’m so excited to share my experience with the recent art exhibit, "The Shape of Things"! The show’s theme of shapes was such a fun and inspiring way to showcase my work among other like-minded artists. I was lucky to be part of this show thanks to the incredible Adria Arch, who juried the exhibit and helped create such a dynamic collection of artworks.
The organizers of the exhibit at the Cultural Center at Rocky Neck did a spectacular job of installing the work. The displayed sculpture with wall art in ways that highlighted the strengths of both pieces. was honored to see how the organizers had installed my artwork as a bold centerpiece of the exhibit. The big middle painting featured those playful bean shapes I love, and the side pieces were vibrant paintings on bean-shaped panels that really brought the whole installation to life.
These paintings are part of my "Magic Beans" series, which is all about planting seeds for the future and holding onto hope, even when times are tough. I really hope that feeling of optimism and possibility comes through and touches everyone who sees them. The ceramic sculpture in the foreground is by Barbe Ennis.
It was an honor to see my paintings installed right in the heart of the top floor, where the altar used to be, which felt so special and gave the pieces a real sense of presence. The lighting there was absolutely amazing—it made the fluorescent orange and pink paint glow in the most magical way. When I first walked in and saw how my paintings were displayed, I honestly felt stunned. I had never seen my work with so much space around it or such thoughtful lighting before, and it made the whole experience unforgettable.
The reactions from visitors and fellow artists were so encouraging! Everyone loved how my paintings were placed, and it was a joy to see how beautifully they paired with a fantastic ceramic artist, Barbe Ennis’ work. The way our pieces interacted added such a rich and playful energy to the exhibit.
The exhibit will be up until July 13, 2025, and I’ll be gallery sitting on July 3rd from 12:00 to 2:45 pm. I’d love for anyone who’s curious to drop by, take in the show, and chat about the work.
The Shape of Things has been such a wonderful and meaningful experience for me, both personally and professionally, and it’s given me lots of inspiration and excitement for what’s next!
